Default Application for an Amended Federal Firearms License?

I have a C&R and will be moving. I need an address change. After researching, it appear all I have to do is fill out form 5300.38 and submit it to the ATF. I also read the last page under instructions and it mentions I have to submit a copy of the form to my local CLEO. I assume this is the right process. Anyone else done this before?

Yes, you have to send a copy to the new CLEO. They sent me all new books and manuals again also.

Upon filling out my Application for an Amended FFL, due to a move soon, I realized my license will expire in less than a month. What's the process when the license expires? Or, do you apply for a new license before the old one expires to avoid fees and the waiting game?

You'll have to renew your license from your new address. If it's that close, I'd go for a new license at your new address instead of waiting for the change of address license and renewel notice. That might take more time than just starting from scratch at your new address.....your call

So the renewal process for a C&R is the same process as a new application? At the end of of your license, you apply for a new one by filling out original paperwork, sending money, etc.?

I guess I just figured they might make it a little easier on you since you already had one.

I recieved a Renewal form in the mail about 3 months before mine expired. Now if someone would just loan me $30.00 ,I'd gladly pay it back next Thursday.

Really, a renewal form? Never got one of those. Probably too late at this point. I've got till Jan1 till mine expires.
