Ed that looks nice! As I recall, the 700 is the "big brother" to the 12 FH.

Good news for me, I may have permission from the wife to build my own 12 FH on a NEF ultra hunter! Have to see how the budget looks in a few months

Hi HC- It is big brother in the sense that I run high pressures
in it. Both hold about the same powder loads. The gun the 700 is in, can run
70,000 psi, where my Savage is 35,000. Robs gun can run high
pressures also, as his action was first made for bmg. ED

    Hey Ed!

Thanks to the fact that my new contract has me driving up to DC every day, I have an opportunity to put one of the NEF single-shot Ultra Slug Hunters in layaway... just so happens the gun shop is right off the highway! After the 60 days of layaway are up, I'll have it in my hands. I may put it in layaway tomorrow

Once I get it out of layaway, what should I do? Do I get the barrel to you so you can ream it out to the 12 gauge FH caliber? Or is this caliber something I can do at home with hand tools? I have a lathe, but it is small enough that it won't hold 24" barrels.

Please let me know. Also, I will need to get a dozen or so cartridges. I really want all-brass cartridges.

I'm getting a 3.5" 12ga reamer done so that i can send out
to you guys or your smiths to deepen chamber. I only have
a few cases, so you will have to get brass cases from RMC.
I getting some to test. Also then your gun can use 3.5"
    plastic cases.

Here is picture of a neat scaled up Sharps replica
that would handle out 12GA FH and my 700HE.
That outside hammer looks great. From a magazine
    article in Very High Power...Ed

Great news, thanks for the info, Ed! I'm in no hurry for this so if it takes time, that's fine by me.

I am looking at the laminated stock model, as I like that wood. I am already planning to remove the buttpad and drill some holes for some lead weight - how do you go about doing that? Do you recommend to melt the lead directly into the hole in the wood, or melt it into a pipe or something and insert the pipe in the hole? The pipe idea makes more sense to me, because I can reverse it if ever I need to, like if I need to replace or upgrade the stock.

I saw that posted on the Accurate Reloading forum - VERY interesting rifle indeed! A Sharps .50 BMG
