Default Magpul Lied? Looks Like We Were Played For Suckers

Magpul's continuing presence in Erie rankles customers

    Snippit:

ERIE -- It was a high-profile announcement that generated a flurry of headlines across the state and the nation.

State Rep. Lori Saine, R-Dacono, read from the floor of the Colorado House of Representatives a message from the CEO of Magpul Industries, the Erie-based weapons accessory maker, that his company would leave Colorado if the Legislature passed a measure banning the sale of magazines containing more than 15 rounds.

Saine gave that speech in February, the Legislature passed the magazine-limits bill in March, and Magpul announced in April that it had started making certain weapons accessories out of state. But on Thursday -- a full six months after the company made its much-ballyhooed break from the Centennial State -- the parking lot at Magpul's headquarters in Erie was filled with cars, and a receptionist greeted visitors in the front lobby.

The company's seeming inability to once and for all pull up stakes and exit Colorado has gone from a point of curiosity among gun enthusiasts, who loudly backed the company's decision half a year ago to move, to a source of annoyance that threatens to hurt Magpul's reputation and business.

On the company's Facebook page, some comments in the last few weeks have turned ugly as customers begin to question whether Magpul truly walks the walk when it comes to defending the 2nd Amendment or simply issues "empty threat(s)."

"Hmmm. I hope I am wrong, but I'm starting to feel dumb for buying a bunch of your stuff to support your company during your move and beyond," Michael Franklin, of Arizona, wrote last week. "What happened to the principles you were passionate about?"

Steve Allen, of North Carolina, also expressed his impatience with Magpul's lack of progress in leaving Colorado.

"Still waiting for the move. I'm a business owner -- I know how difficult a move is," he wrote. "You drew a line and the Colorado legislature crossed it. I sure hope your line means more than Obama's line in Syria."

I was once involved in the relocation of my company's manufacturing facility. we only moved 35 miles, and stayed in the same state. The project took almost two years.

Moving a major facility isn't like packing for a week at the beach.

ETA: just remembered that I was involved in another corporate move as well, that was a networking sales and support company, not manufacturing, but still took a year.

    Geez.

It isn't like a multi-million dollar PRODUCTION company can just pull up stakes in a few weeks. Moves take time. I'm moving just my house and its taking weeks on end to do it. People must really be bored to come up with this shit. Perhaps they should try watching Dancing With The Stars to pass their time.

Besides, the Co. state people have just recalled two douchebag senators (basically fired them) and that's significant. Perhaps they are going to choose to stay and fight vs. move to TX after all. That would be something!

But hey at least the conspiracy theorists have something to bitch about LOL

From now on when states enact anti-gun legislation they know that any gun and gun accessory manufacturer threatening to move is just blowing smoke. They only need to look at these companies who took a stand and then backed off when push came to shove. I figured they weren't really going to move but it would have made a strong statement. I figured as much the same when Beretta talked about moving out of Maryland. No liberal state will take such threats seriously from now on. Let's face it, we lost.

Yeah think of all the families - MEMO: "You no longer have a job unless you move with us to Tx. Put your house up for sale NOW. Must move in next 6 weeks to satisfy the Interweb."

Only 83 miles to business and gun friendly Cheyenne, WY. Easy short commute just over an hour. No income tax and low cost of living.

Had to look up their addy. They are in Boulder, Co. Last news report I read talked about the "storm of the century" affecting Boulder. I would imagine anyone in that area is thinking about a move right now. Surprisingly the area I'm working in right now (Colorado Springs) had some flooding too. Apparently the record amounts of water simply have nowhere to go and are causing the flooding issues.

Too bad Co. Springs isn't any closer... I must admit I'd consider moving that way myself!
