been seeing a few of these for reasonable prices --anybody have one?

i figure for the $$ even if it has a few "quibbly" things i can probably tune um out pretty easy--

I purchased one of the Girsan MC1911S-G2 .45ACP 5" Sport w/Tac Rail about 6 months ago. A lot of gun for the money. I have put about 500 round through it with no issues at all. Nice slide to frame fit, trigger is OK nut could be improved. The only thing I have noticed is the trigger has a little side to side play but nothing that has caused any problems. It is not on par with a high end 1911 but a very nice gun for the money.

i have only seen one turk made 1911 it was a TISIA USGI model that was going for $350 a while back. IIRC it was a pretty nice 1911 for the money as well.

at the time i was buying something else so i passed.

the only things i heard bad about these girshan types is that the grip screws arn't standard colt threads and there is some confusion about the dovetails --if their true novak or not? --

lots of decent imported 1911s on the market these days- they ain't inexpensive by old days standards but are pretty good buys for today.

Grip screw are not standard colt, I have removed the non-standard bushing and drilled and tapped the lower to accept standard bushings. The sights look like Novak but the dovetails are not correct.

I've wondered that about the Rock Island 45cuts too.

i have heard that bursa's have the correct cuts on the front sight --don't know about the back knovaks.

the SAMCOs have colt cuts for the front and USGI on the back --somebody needs to do a data base on all these oddball novak like dovetails--it is a real PITA to find the correct cuts for the standard novak --LOL
