Nothing about them was illegal. If you read the appeal to the court for the temporary restraining order they list all the features the ATF requires for the receiver to be considered 80% and the polymer ones met those requirements. If they were illegal then someone should have been walked out in handcuffs and that has not happened nor will it. I just find it strange that out of 4 locations Ares Armor has the only one that was targeted was the one that has been in recent controversy with the local government. I'm interested to see where this goes in court because I know several of the guys there and they don't roll over easy. Most Scout/Snipers don't.
