I sure the hell would not want to get caught with a home made one an no tax stamp.

I agree the $200 stamp is ridicules.

The way its done has zero to do with reducing crime .

Some day maybe Ill get one .

It is ridiculas, and more so, according to a fellow on this forum from Great Britain, who said that the same suppressors or similar that us Yanks pay upwards of $800 for go for around 70 pounds there. If I remember correctly, that is. I have to ask "WHY"?

Never thought about the gas system, but I don't want a silencer for my AK. I to move the noise forward away from me. Could I machine a "pipe" six to eight inches long to move the sound forward, or is this going to cause me problems?

I have a couple on my air guns. ATF don't bother with air guns.

I saw a pillow being used as a silencer on a movie. Would I need a tax stamp for all my pillows?

mtdew I don't remember what country he was in but you remember it right, they can get suppressors for less then $100 and it sounded like they just did paperwork like we do when buying a firearm.
