Kinda can't forget. But for me it was the ones back home that pay the biggest price. My mom came from a family of Marine Raiders and married into a family of Naval Commandoes. She knew the score. When I came home after 26 months, the lady looked like she had aged ten years. The one at home can pay hell too.

I did a small part in showing my respect by going to the local grave yard,,where I'll eventually be planted next to my Great Grand Father, Grand Father, Father, Uncle and Grandmother, all combat Vets BTW. Well Grandma was a WASP ferrying bombers and fighters to Europe and had been shot down twice, my Uncle Lyman was a Merchant Marine who's ship was torpedoed costing him his life,so to me ,,that's combat! I was pissed there wasn't a flag there for her and one of her friends that was a WASP also,,,well there is one there now, I made Damn sure of that! And reported that to the Legion so that won't happen again.

I did some clean up and trimming and tiding up around all of the grave sites of our fallen Brothers, then went to the local Legion and bought a round for those that were there and hung out and talked to several WW11, Korean, Nam and Mid East Vets for the rest of the day after the parade.

My Brothers and Sisters will never be forgotten by me! Semper Fi,,,,,,
