    Default Guns of the South

This is a good friend/customer of mine, Stephen. He participates in living history re-enactments with the 15th. VA Infantry Company A http://www.15thvacoa.org/. He came by the shop after an event at Tredegar Ironworks http://web.ukonline.co.uk/b.gardner/...r/trediron.htm and I shoved an AK in his hand.

First, Stephen with his issued .69 cal. smoothbore musket:

And now, fast forward into the 21st. Century, and Stephen would choose.......the SAS-M7 Underfolder AKS-47!

Hmmmm......wonder what Moseby's Rangers could have done with some of these.......unk:

TEMPLAR, you have no idea the irony of this thread. It just so happens, there is a book titled: Guns of the South where some people use a time machine to go back in time & give Confederate Soldiers AK-47's. The author is Harry Turtledove, it is a damn good book. Thats awesome that you posted this.

He looks a lot happier! Could it be the modern rifle? Maybe he would trade you a historic rifle for that underfolder? I would like to have one of the ones here at the Kennesaw Museum.

Yeah, you couldn't help smiling when Stephen took that AK in his hands and his face just split open into that grin.

The musket he re-enacts with is a well made Italian copy of the M1842 Springfield in .69 cal. smoothbore. He says that he can usually hit a man sized target at 50 yards with it......which is why he practices with the bayonet!

I think it will be the Red states this time when the next civil war comes around. I'm sure a large part of the red states will be in the south though.

Since most blue states have banned or like to ban guns, they better watch out.
