Ruger, but in .357 as the .38s are not easy to find. With a 4" bbl it's enough gun to hunt deer with, still small enough to conceal, and ammo is cheap. Reloaded ammo is even cheaper and low pressure target loads mean many many reloadings with the same cases. It takes either .357 or .38 special so you have twice the ammo possibilities. Even in .38 chambering the Ruger is more than strong enough to handle magnum level loads in the .38 cases. Built like a tank, your great grandchildren will still be trying to wear it out.

A ruger, yes! But for $250? Where, I want one
I have a daughter. I tell her, "911 is what you dial after you're raped. 1911 is what you should have before they try."

yea--the $250 limit is knocking out lots of good guns. but this is a recession poll!

good 357 wheel-guns are tough to find around here under $300 these days even the 38 is not real common at $250. some real klunker 38s around these parts go for $75-$150. one of my neighbors bought a rossi 38 for $150. he thinks it is gold. but he can't hit the earth with it and the cylinder is so rough made you have to gouge out the brass with a cleaning rod and hammer!

now there was some kind of imported pistol in 357 mag that was selling for just under $250 new-- an Apache? or some other native american tribal name? never saw one in person but TGS was selling them. don't know where or who made them.

My brother's 7.62x25 CZ is quite nice, even though I would like to see a higher capacity mag. Shoots very flat. He's done alot of work to the trigger and safety, different recoil spring, stuff like that. Hard to beat the price though.

I would have to say any of the CZ-52, TTC, TT-33 based weapons are great. The CZ has a nicer trigger once you modify it. Still I found myself enjoying my polish and romanian TT's about equally. You can't lose with a pistol in 7.62x25.... and you don't need a +P+ load for it, it already is +P+ but you can always find the super hot 1600 fps loads if you need them.

for less than $150 a CZ52 is very tough to bEAT.

cheap ammo, super hot loads.... and if it gets lost or stolen its no big deal to replace.

yea the 52 don't look bad at all. haven't seen any 52s for $150 in a couple years. a few keep popping up on auction places for around $180-$200 which is with in our $250 limit.

the t-33s @ $200 also look tough to beat.

any body have a EAA german made 38 or 357? they are around for about the poll limit.

Gotta go with the CZ52. Vicious round, feeds anything I stuff in it including hollow and soft points, cheap surplus ammo, penetrates what would be cover from many other pistol rounds, has ammo commonality with future planned semi CZ26 carbine build, best of all it's made to last of milled steel like all fine overbuilt guns.
