If you're gonna go "gold", don't use actual gold, it will scratch too easy. Go with this:

Brycoat Advanced Metallurgical Coatings - BryCoat Titanium Nitride (TiN) Coatings

Once it's done you can now use the sharp edges of the receiver to cut steel.

Thank you Kernel. That is a good looking product. My wheels are grinding.
I have to give them a call.
Maybe I will do one of each. Copper chrome silver.

Nickel plating sounds good. Thank you.
Catch this. Just got off the phone with the gold colored product company Kernel mentioned.
Was not sure how to approach the guy and ask about plating a weapon with the product. "Brycoat"
Real nice guy answers. Hell yah we do weapons. They even have their own FFL to ship too. No kidding. Says they like to do guns in big batches too save money.

Guess they have done numerous gold colored guns.
I asked him if he did Sadam Hussains. No we missed that one.

Cool yes, but for the cost of the gold plateing you could assemble a couple of ARs or more to play with. Just saying.

No snogler. It's not real gold. It is just gold in color. The coating is used for a protection for all types of tooling equipment.
Guy was real nice and explained the product to me.
He went on a scale of 1 to 4. 1 being something like real gold which would be soft and not stand up well as a coating.
4 being a material like diamonds, which I guess would be like super hard??
The product this company has developed for coating things has a hardness of 3 on the scale from 3 to 4. Am I making sense.
Once a product is coated with this stuff, it gives it a super strong protective coating. Making the tool used last longer.
I was surprised the guy was like super pro gun.
"Hell yah. Send that baby up here we will coat it. We do lots of guns all the time."
I was half pissed up and the guy was in the lab. One of those scientist type guys. Explained it like he was talking to a 4th grader. Huh. Wonder why.
