Default "New" black finish on VZ-58's?

You guys with the new single-stack ones that came in with the black handguards... is your finish painted-on black? I was looking at these pictures:

That doesn't look like the "old" battleship grey, more of a medium-gloss or satin black to me. I don't think it is blued...?

I'm finding more and more "newer" looking 58's that have what I would call a semi-gloss black, almost like an HK black. You can tell because those new handguards are black and the charcoal grey they use on the older ones looks almost blue next to them... but the "true black" ones don't look 2-tone like that.

The more I think about it, the more I want to go with a standard black - I already have a can of that in duracoat and it would help my supply line. I just don't feel like blasting all the parts for re-painting. I need to find a cheap chemical stripper!

FWIW, the Rustoleum "Industrial Grey" is way too light in tone - it is a true grey where this one is charcoal-greyish-whatever...

ETA - I found these on the web of some "blackish" looking rifles which look like newer issue:

My Vz 58 Sporter is charcoal gray to black whereas my Vz 58 demils are medium gray almost bluish.

It is my understanding that that is a model called "defender" or somehow identified as the "defender model". There was a link on the canadian gun nutz forum that showed it, but it was all in Czech language and there were only a few pics. Perhaps a national militia model? No idea...

That stock is on vz58.net product forum. This is where all the guys on the canadian gun nutz .com forum recommend to shop:

What REALLY got my attention was the black synthetic handguards and that extended magazine release...

If you register on the canadian gun forum, there is a 200+ page thread about VZ 58s and half of them are pictures. Some good, some not so good. Took me 2 evenings to crawl (and I mean CRAWL!) through most of them.

I have posted some of the more interesting ones on my VZ page here. Not to get too far off topic, but you should check out the clamp-on "no harm to the gun" scope mount!
