Hell worse case scenario just get your frame and slide trinket pieces assembled as far as you can and the slide fit right to the frame, that's all stuff you can do now for minimum investment except in time. Hell trigger groups, hammers, safeties, slide releases, spring/pin kits and misc stuff like that is reasonable,,,,sorta,,,, haven't looked in a bit, but there usually the least expensive of the parts to get.
Getting those parts done and working smooth makes things move along much quicker and save the the picky barrel ,link and bushing fitting stuff for later as the spend-yer parts roll in.
Back in the day you could put one together pretty reasonable,, not so much now days,, almost cheaper to buy one off the shelf pretty well accessorized and just do the fine tuning yourself with maybe adding a match barrel ,bushing, and a trigger, and do a slide job,,,,,cheapest way to go now days unfortunately. I can't believe the prices on quality frames!!! YOWWWW!! For what they get for those,, I used to be able to build a complete kick ass match grade gun for.
Oh Well,,, it's our vice I guess,,,,,,frigging kids,,,,,,
