My first time attempt at making a somewhat traditional Bowie knife, or any knife for that matter.
Been watching how to vids on Youtube and decided to give it a shot.
I had a big sheet of 440 SS, brass and some black walnut, so it was a no $ project.
I cut out the blade blank with a mini grinder.
Used a bench grinder and belt sander to get the basic shape, hand filed the blade grind.
Heat treat was done with charcoal and quenched in a bucket of old hydraulic fluid.
Sharpening was done on a wet stone, nice and sharp edge, hope it holds up.
Started an old timey looking sheath, still need to stitch it up.
