Considering how expensive/crazy the gun parts market has been lately and feeling the need to build....I decided
to try making a home made knives as a less expensive and hopefully temporary alternative..
Watched a bunch of Youtube vids and tried my first one a couple months ago.
Came out ok, but it is definitely a learning process.
I decided to give it a 2nd try and built another Bowie, little smaller than the first.
Same process, 440C stainless cutout, grind, heat treat, and black walnut scales, blade length 5.5"
I used aluminum for the guard and steel pins in the handle instead of brass .
Getting the hang of the blade grinding process, I think. ???
I made some grind gigs for my belt sander to maintain a consistent angle,
Gonna work on the leather sheath, will post pics when I get it finished.
The second one.
