    Those are a great idea, congrats on coming up with this.

    So is the thickness of the plates about the hieght of the rivet heads?

    Suggestion;
    Add a link in the library thread to this one in case people want to discuss it further, you know like 3 years from now.

    I actually just grabbed some random flat stock that threw a beautifull shower of sparks when it hit the grinding wheel, a lil' carbon in it. It's 1/4" but I doubt the actual size matters (thank god!). It just fit right to keep the flat side of my 24" pookie smashers flat on the plate and still maintain the right arc to set the inner part of the rivet properly. I think a lot of luck sprinkled down on me for this one to fit together.

    Instead of 6 plates, you could have made 3 plates with dimples on both sides. The plates would have to be thicker than 1/4", though.

    Other than that, great job.

    Anybody have dims for exact placement of the dimples? I'd like to make a set of these, and would like them to be on the money.

    Use a fronttrunnion as a template to drill some marks in the plate and you will have it spot on...

    Someone asked the size of the mill used to make the holes. I used a 5/16" ball and watched it closely to make sure a split frog hairs worth of the rivet head was still above the edge of the hole. I got the mill off ebay and used it in my little benchtop drill press (which I use more than my bridgeport, go figger)
