Looks good! I have full access to several heat treating furnaces where i work but thanks for the info on where to buy the parts to build my own. We heat treat acft parts mostly various grades of alum but quite a bit of steel also 4130,4340,a-286, 17-4ph,15-5ph, 431 etc. I'm mainly a machinist but i am qualified to do heat treating too.

FYI, I tried to buy 1lb of Kanthal A-1 wire from http://www.resistancewire.com/mainpage.php?page=home. They have a $50.00 minimum order, so that would require purchasing 1.5lb and they will charge a $15.00 respooling fee to cut it from their 50lb spool, so after the $10 shipping that puts it around $75.00.

Can I ask how you attached thermocouple wire to the $4.00 thermocouple element? I have tried soldering and I am having a hard time getting it to stick to the element and wire. And I thought I knew how to solder electronics pretty good too.
