    Default new tool / toy

I have been wanting a better surface plate for a while. I have been using a 12 x 12" marble tile, but it is a little small. I saw these in the MSC catalog for about $75.00, I got a flyer and they were on sale for $34.95!! I t weighs 85 lbs and I almost had a freaking heart attack humping it upstairs.

It probably cost more to ship than the price of the surface plate. It will help you better measure all your future projects. My old boss had one twice that size that was pink. He kept it hidden for some reason????

Nice surface plate! How often do you need to get it recalibrated?(checked for flatness) The big (3'x4')one at the shop they check every 6mo. I don't think they get out that fast.

It should last me forever, I don't use it that much. plus it is not real big so it should not flex or deform, it is 3" thick.

I have a smaller one from my dad, had no idea what it was used for, but looked too cool to get rid of. Now I know what it is used for. Guess I learned at least two things today.
