    Wink Mini Mill,, yay

well i used a 20% off cupon today and got me a micro mill from HF. its gonna be 10-14 days before i get it but i am excited,
has anyone had or have one? whats the oppinion on em?
hopefully it will be enough for small bolt work and possibly a 1911 build or somthin.
i figure rails on the ak, trimming and making small peices from alluminum or steel.
possibly inletting or cutting stocks and pistol grips.

i got the mill and 115pc drill bit set and a 4" digi caliper for under 320$

Cool deal, learn it's limits and stay within them and it'll serve you well.

Fuzzbean over at Home Gunsmithing has a couple of great threads regarding the HF mini mill. He bought the next larger version but there's a whole bunch of good info in them about using these mills and the tooling/setups to accomplish a given job. Well worth the read and lots of pics illustrating things.

This is a step on the way.

I love to watch the transition occur from hammer and pliers to cnc equipment.

It makes me feel so normal!!

Cool, give us a review once you get it and try it out. I've been eyeing those too in their monthly sales flier. Curious as to how it works out.

These things are just like a Jeep - there are tons of things to add to them to make them work better, but they are pretty good out of the box.

Surf around this forum and you'll find a few threads about some must-have gizmos to make them work, buy some scrap metal, and have at it!

    Default Nice Deal!

I actually like the mini mills frm HF, the three in ones as well. They are like any other tool, it just depends on how you use it.

I have moved up in the world since I like to do barrels and other odd-ball projects. But I still have the HF stuff. The Jeep reference made in this thread is about right.

    Good Luck,
    Bellson

P.S. Now the real expenses begin.....Bench, coolant system, tools, tools, tools, tools, tools, tools. Get a McMaster Carr catalog. You'll need it.
