I just looked at the slidefire website. Their AK model is $290.00 with free shipping.
I appreciate 4th's offer, but alas I have no mattel guns in my bunker. Heh...Heh

I don't care for plastic stocks either. I'll have to find Dutigafs thread & see if I can make something with a wooden buttstock.

    Thanks, Brad

it could be the trigger on that high end AR causing the problem, it might be just a little bit too much precision for the bump effect to work.

4th, there are two diameters of the CAR style stock buffer tubes, strangely the "mil spec" version is smaller (thinner) than the commercial version. It's possible Mongo's AR had the larger commercial stock and was binding.

BTW, there are two companies making these things. If you will recall the original Akins Accelerator for 10/22s that got recalled by ATF, the inventor is behind these AL models:

    Bumpski

Again, very pricey but I think the AL will hold up better than the plastic over time. OTOH, with all the folks on here with machine tools, I think a personal use item of similar utility could be carved out of some metal for just a few bucks.

    Default Old post but....

    We figured it out..
It was the bottom of the trigger guard on Mongo's AR was stopping it from working.
His guard was wider than mine and would not let is slide past..
Got another bottom guard thing, regular size, I guess it is?
    Works fine now..
