OK I'll bite - put my G3S (FMP receiver) on the operating table to restore it to its former glory. She had a broken charging handle tube with a broken weld at the sight frame, which made the handguard wiggle forward-to-back.

I contacted a gunsmith for a quote- $500 for the repair & repaint (OUCH). Well I just spent $2000 on it so I didn't want to go there.

ANYWAY, I was able to silver solder the tube back, and cleaned it up with some JB weld and duracoat.

I also refinished a G3 kit collapsible stock (poor condition) which was severely rusted/pitted. Many dremel sanding disks later, and a $40 replacement buttpad, and she looks brand-spankin' new. It was funny, I showed it to my buddy and he thought I had bought another new gun

Only thing missing is the paddle release. I must admit, the recoil action of HK rifles will beat the hell out of your shoulder faster than anything else in the safe - even the SPAS has less kick!

Yes, that's an HK heavy bipod

Hey! Hey! Hey! These are not just for boys. I am going to the gunshow this weekend with the intention of picking up a CETME.

I'm told CETME's are good deals. There is a bunch of interest in it and with the kit prices these days they are really affordable.

The recoil, and cost of HK stuff, would make me want something other than HK if I weren't interested in the collection value.

I am going to a gunshow with the idea of picking up one. I hope I can find one. Its not a big gunshow <200 tables. Maybe I will luck out.

I like the FAL much better on recoil than the HK/CETME. The CETME is harsh and choppy and the FAL is like a Caddilac running donw the highway.

If I found a CETME for the right price I might, but an upper for my AR in 6.8spc would be more likely.
