A couple of guys on AR15.com got some them, and they are beautiful rifles, as expected.

All the parts are new US production except the gas block, rear sights, gas tube.......that's it.

Everything else is new US manufacture, including the barrel, upper and lower receiver, buttstock, forend, pistol grip, etc........that stuff costs lots of money when it's built correctly, as DSA does.

    Like to have one.

I like the appearance of the G1 FAL Collectos Edition . I say appearance because I don't know enough about FALs to make a choice based upon anything but looks.

Well..........watcha lookin' for Carb? The G1 and StG-58 are fairly unique FAL style rifles, but those sheet steel handguards get hot quick.

The G1 was the first of the modern metric FAL's. Germany wanted the rights to produce them in Germany, but Saive, protege of J.M. Browning, designer of the FAL and head of FN, was still too pissed off at the Germans for invading his country twice in 50 years and using his workers as slave labor during the occupation in WWII.

He told them to pound sand.

The Germans got Dr. Vorgrimmler to come back from CETME in Spain to further develop his rifle into the G3.

They would have been better off just paying the Belgians for the G1.

Are you saying that the G1 is the early version of the STG-58?

The G1 came out in 1957, and introduced the new lower sighting system that every metric FAL used afterwords. They also use a barrel with a lug on it that allows you to go from a quick detatch flash suppressor to a grenade launcher to a blank firing device.

The StG-58 was basically a G1 with a unique flash suppressor/rifle grenade launcher developed by Herr Major Stoll of the Austrian military.

Biggest difference between the G1 and the StG-58 was the G1's unique quick detachable barrel accessory capability.

You mentioned that the G1 and StG-58 are fairly unique FAL's. What would a more common FAL be?
