Default FN FAL or HK91/G3 ????

Only have $ for one kit which should it be? And why? Have you built one? Which is a cheaper build? Quality of arm???

Thanks in advance for your post. I will be buying one of the two first thing in the morning so I'll check reply's and sleep on it.

Surf around here - there's plenty 'o' posts about that very question. I posted a few myself!

Yep snook, I've post that question in one form or another on several different boards and all got the same answer....FAL, even by die hard HK fans. Now I don't have either. In fact I just got to shoot a Cetme for the first time the other day and I really liked it. I'm drawn to the G3 more than the FAL, but I'm hoping to meet someone with one (FAL) up here in the Northwest that will let me run a mag through theirs to see if I like it more.

FN/FAL hands down. Ergonomically the best, shoots as accurate as an M1A, screws together vs welded/pressed together. Ease of disassembly/cleaning/spare parts. rocks ass solid.

The FAL is a much more popular rifle for several good reasons.

I personally prefer the PTR-91 (HK G3 clone with a bull barrel) due to it's accuracy. The G3 design uses a true fully floating barrel, with no gas ports so they are extremely accurate. My PTR has around 4500 rounds through it with zero issues. If you build a G3, use a Portuguese kit, they are in like new condition. Also, build on a JLD Enterprises receiver, they are the best quality.

The FAL is probably the most user friendly 7.62 main battle rifle ever made. If you pick the FAL, check out the Austrian STG-58 kits and the Imbel receivers, they make an excellent combo.
