Default Pics of Swedish Defense Forces AK-4 (G3)

The Swedes adopted the FNC as their AK-5, in 5.56mm of course, as their new service rifle.

They recalled all the AK-4's in inventory and "updated" them for issue to the reserves. The updates included cutting the iron sights off and the welding of a picatinny style rail on the receiver and a special Aimpoint M2 red dot style sight installed. The sight does supposedly have "emergency" iron sights installed on it though.

I don't know, I just don't feel good about a rifle with no iron sights on it. True, the batteries on the new generation of Aimpoints are supposed to last 10,000 hours or so, but electronics fail.

    Anyway, above my pay grade.....

Here are some pics of the Swedish Defense Forces, Reserve.

Nope, brass catcher so you don't nail your buddy with the brass (HK systems throw brass out violently) and makes for easy clean up.

Is this rifle basically the same as a H&K 91?, I liked mine except for the violent recoil it seem to have. It fit good, but it kicked like a pissed off mule. I could accually see the the front sight twist on mine when fired. I don't know if mine was a fluke or what, but it was not comfortable to shoot at all. I know guys that have CETMEs' and love 'em, but the HK 91 I had was not fun to shoot at all.

Yep, the AK-4 is basically a G3, and the HK 91 was the US civillian version of the G3.

I've owned several, and yeah, they kick harder than either a FAL or a M1A/M14. That delayed roller locking system puts more recoil back on the shooter than a gas operated weapon.

I do not think they kick hard because they are a delayed roller-locked firearm.

    I own a HK93 and a CETME and I have fired a true HK33 and HK53 and a HK91.

Roller locked small arms are the smoothest guns I have ever fired.

The problem with the HK91/G3 is the buffer design.

Do not ask me why HK changed the orginial CETME buffer.

They latter redeisgned it three different times. Once for the HK21 then the MSG90 then the PSG1.

A lot of G3 owners have changed out the buffer for one of the newer designed ones and have reported a world of difference.

They say the recoil feels less than a FAL.
