    Default Best Russian non-AK rifle?

Not being able to fire a rifle here in the UK without very tight licences and controls I was wondering what peoples feelings where on the best non-AK Russian rifle was.

I've tried to include as many as I could think off, and I know technally the Dragunov is a AK style weapon it shares as much with the SVT I have read as it does with the AK, where as the PSL Romanina verson is more AK in its internals than the SVD.

    So ruffly in date order:

Mosin Nagant 1891/30 and Carbine (Shown)

    Tokarev SVT38/40

    Simonov SKS45

    Dragunov SVD

The Russian Collection: Mosin Nagant Carbine, Tokarev SVT40, Simonov SKS45, RPD, Romak3 PSL - RPK coming soon...

Based solely on rarity in the U.S., here's my ranked order of desirability:

    1. SVD
    1 1/2. SVT
    2. SKS
    3. Mosin Nagant

The SVD and SVT are close in desirability, as are the SKS and MN.

The Mosin Nagant is still being used in conflicts arround the world.
How many other battle guns that are that old can make that claim.

Mosin 91/30. Any rifle that is still in use after 100+ years has got to be a winner. The link below has valuable information to confirm my opinion...

For a modern general purpose weapon: SKS, simple, reliable and accurate, only issue, crappy trigger. For coolness, simplicity, the SVD is an excellent general squad marksman weapon. Mosin-Nagant best WWII era. Rugged, simple, and accurate. Produced and used in two world wars speaks volumes. The SVT is an excellent collectors piece. They require the owner to be a hobby gunsmith and knowledgeable. I know of a few KABOOMs from these neat but finicky rifles.

The SVD looks nice. I 've never shot one. Any one know what the accuracy of this riffle is?

SVD is meant to be a nice weapon to shoot so I have read as I bought my PSL under the miss information when I was a little less clued up, I thought I was buying a SVD but thats another story but I am told they are good for what they are a Squad Marksman Weapon NOT a Sniper Rifle as bolt actions are better suited for that task.
