Sorry, but I've read both in The American Rifleman and in NRA TV shows a repetition of the "ping" myth. Just the way it is.

I dont know. Possible with the ping thing there, with whatever the hell flew out of that Garand..
Not in the heat of battle, but two Troops alone having a stand off.
1960s. D.I. spent 30 minutes explaining how the Garand works, loading it, etc.
Sheeet this is easy, give me that weapon, no problema.
Reload. Thumb stuck in bolt. Tim screaming like a little girl, begging God to stop the pain. D.I. proceeds to put his foot so far up my ass, I thought I was going to need a Doctor to remove it..
Still not sure which hurt worse.. Think his boot is still up there.
To this day, Garand one of the best weapons ever made. But..
Every time I see one at the fun shows, my thumb and ass start hurting..
I can not even look at one, without remembering that horrible day.
    Nope. No Garands for me.

Ok I was worried for a while I thought you were going to say the thing didnt make a "ping" sound and I was about to raise the "BS" flag, but after the explination I felt comforted. I was about to say "I just got done shooting a garand a week ago and it makes the ping" but being able to hear it is a different issue.

This whole ping thing is BS...

There was very little dissemination of this sort of information to the enemy to have made a difference.

Come to think of it the real noise was more like the 06 bullets hitting and pinging thier helmets!
