And I have a chicom 20 rounder on the other one. I have a chicom 5 rounder on the house gun for portability reasons. Handy rifle. Like a semi 30-30.

$1 worth of 1980 dollars is now worth $2.84

By my calculation you paid about $224 in today's money for a Chinese SKS.

Once you posted the full name of that I knew it was a British Columbia outfit, thanks for the info.

Yeah I like the Chinese box mags, they work. I asked because I had a couple of the poly mags and they didn't work, I don't remember the manufacturers, but Tapco makes them now and they seen to work good but they still hang down lower then the Chi-com ones.

Just a few years ago we had Yugo SKSs here for $100 - 120 and unissued ones were 150 - 170, but they were only around for a little over a year before the prices started to climb, I think there are about $250 now.
I might have to get one of mine out soon after talking about this

I remember when the Yugo SKS rifles were that price, they were cheap up here too. Now they fetch a premium even though they are not supposed to be as good as the Russians.

I can see the Russian ones going the same way as the Yugo's. All the Russian SKS rifles, and SVT 40's have come to Canada from Ukraine. It would not surprise me if no more come in.

The Chinese ones still will, but they are not as nice as the Russians. Nothing wrong with them, they are just not finished as nicely. I recently bought two brand new Chinese military SKS's, I just can't help buying them, they seem such a bargain. Just yesterday the Mrs had to drag me away from a display cabinet

Finally got it out. MISERABLE performance. 2.5" groups at 25yds. Thought the scope or mount was bad but got the same results wi irons. Useless spray at 100yds. My SBR Draco does 3-4" groups at 100yds. Pretty sure someone ground on the crown. Once I took off the hokey flash hider and cleaned I discovered Shiny grind marks on conical fluting in from the muzzle. Will post pics in a few days. I hope this can be redressed as it's a fun little shooter and the Tom Prince trigger job makes it a pleasure to shoot.
