"People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word."

I hope it is OK to say that at one time he was a board veteran in the best sense of the word. He was genuine, up front, kind, generous, informative and always had an encouraging word for new builders. His posts were entertaining to read. He is missed.

From Wikipedia -

An Aristotelian tragic hero must have four characteristics: virtue of birth, nobleness, or wisdom; hamartia (translated as tragic flaw, but connotes more closely to mistakes or excess in behavior than to something innate, related to hubris), and a discovery that is made by his own actions.

A tragic hero was considered to need a catharsis, or a moment of emotional purgation, but it comes at a time when it is too late to change the course of events already in motion.
