    Default .270?

After seeing the .308s and .243s, I was wondering about a .270 built with Yugo trunnion and bolt/carrier? The pressures are about the same between them all. I was planning to use a SKS barrel to build a long AK, but now you guys have me thinking.

is the 270 based on the same parent round as the 308 I cant rember? You might want to look at the 6mm ppc the 6.5 grendal or ppc the 6.8 rem spr. these all will fit in a 223 mag. the 6.5 grendal is the one that ,s got me thinking accurate at over 500 yards. the reamer is an issue however.

the 270 would be in the same dimesional class as a 30-06, its just necked down to .270 or 6.8mm whichever you prefer. pressures should be around the same for a 308 so IF one would work so should the other, except for the magazine feeding issues you would be back to the MG or BAR mags or some pricey commercal something or other that you could make fit

you would have to move the trunion forward and have some type of extended bolt if it is 30-06 length (same as a 8mm). A 260 Rem would be doable in a 308 mag perhaps.

Yep, the .270 OAL is the same as the .06. I don't recall the exact difference from the 7.62x39, but something around 1.150 inch longer. Mag could be a 1918 BAR 20 rounder as they are still around and not too expensive. It would require a custom receiver, longer bolt/firing pin, and top cover. I was just wondering how the 2 lug locking system would hold up over time. It would probably be better to use a 3 lug system if you could ever find a bolt and trunnion.

If you could come up with a stronger AK trunion/ bolt assembly. there would be a market for it I would love to build up a 300 mag or some thing crazy like that
