I'd gotten some years ago (chamber inserts). They never worked particularly well. I'll see if I can find the link.

Slipping from chamber inserts to barrel sleeves. My apologies to those looking for continuity.

The Finns resleeved some of their WWII Russian captures. They were pretty descent rifles by the accounts I saw although it flew in the face of common accepted beliefs that resleeving is only for rim fires.

Sooo -- Remember the bad Yugo barrels? No chrome lining. I got a bunch of them and a bunch of .223 sleeves and a lathe rig and following an old Shotgun News article -- anyway, I have to recut the chambers. Probably have to do the same thing here.

Having screwed up posting things too soon I'm waiting until one goes bad before running a thread.

Hrm OK thanks for that info. "Chamber Insert" is what I'm thinking.

Gunter I was reading just last night in my Hornady #7 manual and the implication is that 30 Mauser is "identical enough" to be interchangeable with 7.62x25. I would like to know the reamer measurements, because that may be just the ticket.

As far as .308 bullets riding down a .310 or .311 bore, they can be nicely accurate.

I have two Finnish Mosin M39's that like .308 bullets, will do 1-2 MOA with them at 100 yards. My two other M39's really want 200+ grain .310 bullets, they don't do so well with the .308 in any weight I've tried.

However I seem to remember that the .308 vs. .312 discussion was a moot issue when talking about the x25 caliber. I don't think I'd ever put a .312 into a .308 barrel, but I think I would not have a problem with putting a .308 into a .312 barrel, so long as there is enough seal to prevent excessive gas bleed.

Now that I think about it I asked this a while back, and the builder said it shot well, but they did not chrony it so there's no hard data to show how much gas loss is happening with the extra .003" bore.

Widner had 1200 30 cal tracer bullets for cheap so I've got a bunch of them. Might try to reload a few rounds and see what happens!!
