i always wanted a sks in 6.5 grendel?
got a chance to shoot some woth sierra 55 gr HP at 100 yards it was shooting 2 foot groups. this was out of an AMD 65 with a 12" barrel 3x9 scope& worked trigger. I also tried some hunting reloads 123 grain .310 hornady the did a 1.5 " group out of the same gun, about the same as the PMC.
I will get back to the sabots when time permits I have some 68 grain boat tail hollow points I will try with differant powders I will try some in a 16" barrel rifle that i have that shoots good.
One thing I did notice was that when I started reloading for these guns was that the rommy chamber has a huge amount of free bore like a 1/4" on the gun I checked. one could seat the bullet was past what the mag would allow and still have space before the bullet contacts the rifling.
Has anyone used these sabots to reload 7.62x25 Tokarev ammo to .22 cal ??
I thought about it for plinking ammo. the 22 reed it a necked down x25 round.
if you guy use sabots be sure to remove muzzel brakes and flash surpressors and the sabot can get caught in its and cause a kaboom.
how did those sabots work out in x25????
Those sabot rounds don't really blow up my skirt. I did see something in hte COTW book last night and it does - JDJ makes a 7.62x25 with a 200 gr cartridge with a subsonic load - would make for an even quiter "whisper" round and uses the x25 as a base. Would make a perfect cat, er, I mean racoon round!

in the one article the sabots shot better than the normal rounds. when I get one built Im going to load some subsonic cast lead plinking rounds with heavy bullets. I d love to get a surpressor but I just cant swing it now. it would work for x39 as well as x25 rounds.
I need to revist the whole sabot thing. I think I used two light of bullets in my 7.62x39 loads. Im going to try some 77gr bullets next time. I have been letting my kid shoot one of my mausers in 30-06 with some plinker rounds ( the load) and I was thinking if I could get some light loaded sabots to shoot half way decent it would be good for him to use on rabits and squirels. Im trying to get him used to a full size rifle for the next deer season. the old remington accelerators used to shoot decent.
The problem was with the recoil spring being too stiff.
I never tried lightening the spring. A heavier bullet mag have helped also. The 55 gr. had enough room to function through the mag.
I did load some 87 gr. Hornady HPs. They functioned just fine.
