The inside is correct and I have the answer on the yugo differences,
Asked this question and got an answer from the source, the yugo blank has an undercut rear and the rpk slopes from the top.

Has anyone checked into the possibility of using a DEWAT M-1 Garand receiver front half for the front trunnion? Since Mr K used the M-1 Garand as his basis for the design of the AK-47, it is just possible the front part of the Garand might work with the AK bolt.

If it can be made to work, at least you will not have to worry about whether it can withstand the pressure of the .308 caliber.

BTW, the Garand front section is appoximately the same width as the Yugo front trunnion.

If I knew where the front Garand receiver piece of mine is, I would check it out myself.

Also I am going to get some material to make LH ejecter rail blanks. I plan on bending them in a break and leaving enough material to make the ejecter tip further back as this will be nessacry to eject loaded 308 length rounds. If any one is interested I may be willing to make a few extra. the will likely be just a 90 degree bent blank that will have to be completly cut and fitted but it will be the correct metal so it can be hardend . I dont know of another source of rails for this. If you guys do, Im all ears. on my initial 308 build I just welded two rails together but it was pretty cobbled.

Buy some 1" square tubing / 4130 / .064" from AircraftSpruce.com or some other place. Cut the rail from that. You can use a standard rail for the measurements, then cut the ejector farther back. I could measure mine to get exact measurements if need be.

thats a good idea I have a sheet metal shop that I can use any time I was going to just bend some strips, but cutting some square tubing would sure work to.
After pricing the the bent blanks I may try to make my own. not sure yet.
By the way CfS has 5/10 round mag bodies for $3.99 if you get 3 or more thought they might be good for cutting off the lugs for modifying G3,s or modifying into longer mags buy welding 2 together. I bought a few to play with.

I'm in for one left hand rail blank. let me know.
I think if you put the ejector hook at 51mm from the trunnion side it will work. the biy reciver print that pbb posted on his web page showes the ejector hook at 53mm (I think or close to that lenth) not at the standard ak spot. muttman

Drifting even further off-topic - I forgot I'd already blazed that trail...

I was thinking of making a longer mag buy welding two together that is still some what shorter than a 308 win mag but slightly longer than a 7.62x39 . I want something the right length for a 22-250,250 savage, 300 ,6mm bench rest. this would give the advantage of having a standard reciver keeping more of its trigger guard clearance. also I was thinking of seating the bullet out further on a 7.62x39(some thing a stock mag wont allow) to gain more case capacity and also to be able to seat the bullet closer to the rifleing for better accuracy. at $3.99 there cheap to play with. I made my own lugs on the my gs mags as well
