    Default 6.5 creedmoore

Dpms makes a ar in this calibur. it might be doableon a 308 style AK build. pricey to shoot but if you want accuracy this it one of the newest 6.5 out there. a little shorter than a 260 to allow longer bullets it a 308 length action/mag

    Hornady

I dunno, shoulder is sharper (harder to feed) and is it really that much better than the 260 remington?
If it is, will the ak platform be able to benefit from that extra itty bitty precision?

the 6.5 laupa is interesting as well. I have been considering a 6.5 something for a long range varmit gun. I want to hit a praire dog at 600+ yards. likely a bolt action but my AK varmit build does pretty well so who knows. A DPMS 6.5 creedmore with a heavy barrel would be cool but at $1200 I would need to live a lot closer to South Dokota than were I am now to make it more than a once a year thing.
The concern I have with doing a AK build in one of these is I will want to load it hot and 62,000 PSI is a little scary on a AK Bolt. May have to find a SAGIA and convert it.

IN compitition accuracy is measured by the thousands of a inch so yes it is worth it. A few thousands of a inch at 100 yards turns into a foot at long range.

On a AK build one likely will not be able to find the differance. MY 223 varmit build is very accurate and gives the $1200 AR varmit builds a run for there money. it wouldnt have a chance in compititon were some of the high end $2500+ build shoot .25 groups all day long (then again I dont have a $600-$1000 barrel). I think if some one built a AK with a good barrel in 260 or 6.5 creedmore it could do very well.

apparently there must be some problems getting a custom loaded 260 rem with a long bullet that is seated to optmum position in a 308 AR mag or this round would have never been born just like the 223 with long bullets must be hand feed.. this appears to be another case of making the new wonder bullet fit the gun. just like all the other rounds designed to fit the AR 15 (6.5 grendal,6.8 spc 450 busmaster. 458 socom. 50 beowulf ect all made to fit one type of reciver) If hornady is the only one offering ammo and brass this is likely going to stay a compitition only gun, at over a $1.25 per round I sure cant afford to shoot praire dogs all day with it. one can easly shoot 500 rounds on a good day.(223)

DPMS offers the same gun in a 260 remington and a 308. as far as feeding any of these match chamberd target/varmet guns they are never going to be as reliable as a military spec chamber.

says here it is under 60,000psi brags about good barrrel life. Maybe this is more AK friendly than I first thought. I wonder if 308 or some other brass can be resized to this for cheap plinking.

It has occured to me that this is kind of close to a 250 savage in dimensions. I have considerd the 250 & 300 savage as a candiate for conversion in the past. factory ammo is at around 45000 CUP if I recall.

Lock Stock & barrel has 6.5 Creedmoore Hornady brass for $28.95 for 50. same price as 243 & 308 match brass. Not real bad for quality brass.
