Steel parts that can be hardened (high carbon or alloy steels) need to be preheated and postheated during welding. Especially if you are welding on a fairly large part. See here:Handbook - Making The Weld

Send the carrier back to me and I will try it again if you want to.
No charge. You had the LH handle correct?
No problem, the weld on the bolt face is still holding up perfectly. I'm going to drill out the carrier and press in a new handle so I don't have to worry about it. Thanks though

rk5n you keep mentioning welds on your bolt face and it has me wondering how you welded up your bolt face: did you use a bushing or did you use just some spot welds to reduce the diameter of the bolt face?

All this is thinking you used a x39 bolt and carrier.

Also how high was your ammo/mag well guide? What configuration did you use? Was it 2 ramps are a unibrow type ramp? The foto looks like a 2 ramp style but can't be sure. If you could, please post some measurements.

Not trying to speak for rk5n,
We welded a reducer sleeve onto the face of a 39 bolt.
Typical of the 2xtm type of conversion.
I've done about 10 of these and all seem to be satisfactory.

^^^ OK Rahat I just didn't recognize the designation, I talked to the guy's at Lichtenberg Research several times while researching this build in x25.

That is why I was wondering what you guy's did to the bolt face, I had seen the LRD team bushing.

You are correct, he was the guy that came up with sleeving a 47 bolt and he used a SUOMI mag well milled down to fit in an AK receiver. The guy at Lichtenberg asked him if he could use his idea for the parts he sells and came up with the name 2xtm out of respect for the original designer.
