Jerry - I've got one of those and it has the micro groove lands. I've shot soft cast though it and my experience was not good. It's ok with the jacketed bullets.

It shoots well with a cartridge it likes. Others, if memory serves, a 180 g wouldn't group.

Gotta agree with Winn as I have own a Marlin. I seem to remember seeing Timberwolf barrels for a fair price at GPC a few years ago. Green Mountain has new 15" SS 1.1" for $80 but no chamber. Heck keep looking and something will show up or maybe you will be satisfied and the Marlin will work for your use.

Just went to Numrich (GPC). They still have 18 1/2" IMI Timberwolf blanks chambered for $27 part#958250. May pick one up so to have a companion for the DE 44.
