Has anyone here used an SAS3 build kit to assemble a legal Sten MKIII? If so, do the instructions have enough detail to complete the build without guess work?
What are the US parts count, if any? Also, is the original trigger group 100% usable for S/A with modification?
had not intended to insult anyone. at the same time, i dont care much for someone trying to flame on me for what was a legit question back around page 1 & 2...
came here looking for information. ive only been in this game for about a year and am fairly new here. dont know all the "old history" of some of these topics.
nkluksda: thanks for reminding me to stay on the topic and take the high road.
yeah mr vic benson is not the fastest one the block www.semiautosten.com sells kits to build a semiauto since you cannot use a openbolt design..i dunno it just dont look right with a long barrel..
Too long barrel. That's why I still consider building a semi-auto pistol with the Sten parts kit. I think putting a pistol grip middle ways on the receiver barrel jacket like the Sterling SMG would be good.for balance.
Don't know if it would work, but thought about turning the trigger housing backwards, with the oval part at the rear of the magazine housing and the rear of the TH attached to the tube. Use a regular AK FCG, plus another trigger at the trigger guard to operate the rear trigger.
Tube would be the same O.D., but with a smaller I.D. The converted semi-auto bolt would have to be turned down to fit the new I.D. tube.
Make a solid end cap which is held in place with a long vertical pin. Use a Thompson or M-3 recoil spring instead of the Sten recoil spring.
Sorry valk, but you need more reading comprehension. At no time did I mention using an open bolt. I did say a modified semi-auto bolt, and an AK FCG. This in no way implys an open bolt.
Not trying to make you sound stupid, but a lot of people have trouble comprehending what they read. No offense intended.
When i was at Knob Creek this past weekend i was looking at sten tubes. I was looking for one with reduced ID but none were to be found. I asked about the semiautosten.com web site and i was told that the business/web site was sold and the new owner would be getting things going with actually having product in stock vs a whole web site with OUT OF STOCK on every item. Anyone heard anything about this?
I want to get going on this sten but i am not wanting an origional ID tube.
ok... yes its true. i know who it is, he is a reputable guy and im sure as soon as he is ready to go full bore, it will be made public here as well. just got to sit tight and give him time to get on his feet.... im also wating to get this going.
I know what you mean about funds. I have enough AK kits to last a while. But I was thinking about after the first of the year when the kits with barrels dry up.
