    Default Semi-Auto Thompson M1 SMG?

    has anyone attempted a semi-auto Thompson is it doable? if so what was the biggest problems you ran into?

    The receiver on a simi is different configuration. This is why you either have to grind a portion off the mag catch on the simi to get GI mags to work or you have to make the hole larger on the GI mag. In any regard you would have to do some machining to the trigger assembly to get it to fit.

    From what I have read, there is a lot of work to be done to build a semi, and many of the original parts cant be used. It would probably cost less to buy a prebuilt, but where is the fun in that? Id like to build/buy one, but I like the well worn look, and the new ones just dont have it.
