    Default Suomi front filler disassembly

This is the first time I've taken these things apart. The front filler comes apart easily. First drill both rivets/pins on one side to the depth of the flairing on the end of the pin/rivet. Then simply drive out the 2 pins/rivets with punch and then slide pieces apart.

The photos are of a front filler that was lightly touched on the forward edge of bullet ramp and on the left side of the filler. Looks like it is easily rebuildable IMO.

Anyone know of a good source of information on disassembling these receiver parts? As much fun as this is to learn, I'd like to take advantage of someone else's prior experience. It always increases my odds of success.

EDIT ; all receiver pieces come apart with the same method of drilling out the heads of the rivets and driving out rivet with punch and hammer

I drilled and beat all mine apart. 5 of them so far! I pretty much did what you did and the pins are soft material.

I tool the rear fillers out the same way, the ones that weren't torched.

I can't wait! This is getting closer and closer to being a real project!

Don't know if you all have seen these, but some good photos on Suomi semi build.

Yup, I got a tube from him and he is a vendor here too. I started a thread about a build a while back, but not too many people are interested yet. I got extra kits to use the 9MM barrel for an AK build too. My new Gunsmith machinist bud is going to build a Suomi too. This guy has everything needed including diamond tipped milling equipment.

I asked permision and posted the Prexis pics here too.

you are lucky with the front filler. Mine is torched all the way thru. I was able to get a rear filler from Numrich, but have not been able to find a front filler yet. It is going to be awhile before I can get to the Suomi. My M14 is my next project

When I purchased my 80% receiver from Prexis, it came with a blank front filler. I believe that he got these from Numrich Arms. I don't know if he supplys them with the receivers any more. I was going to try to duplicate the blank front filler that came with my receiver. I was wondering if there was small market for these front fillers.
