Default thought i would try a thompson

nothing special, no special caliber or anything. just a straight forward build.

the slag from the torch cutting is so hard i couldnt mill it at all. im not a pro machinest i just bought a cheap and mill and am learning so maybe its the endmill i was using i dont know. it was HSS so i thought that should cut it but it wouldnt so i took out the angle grinder.

andafter a few hours of fitting i have the first weld joint pretty much prepped.

its a real clean parts kit. almost no wear on the moving parts.

you did not indicate that you have research other similar builds if you have not i highly recommend you look at the thompson build over at weapons guild

for me cutting the slag was a cake I used a heavy file!
Sprat and sprat1 are one and the same.

leonpiper69, what section of Levittown you live in? I used to live in Quincy Hollow and went to school at Neshaminy.
    Good luck with that Thompson.

i really dont know where any of that is. my wife is active duty and we're just stationed here.

and mtdew, i have seen that build. thats much more complicated than im doing. thats why i said this was a plain jane build. pretty straight forwar. clean it up and weld it back together yada yada yada.

hunter, if your around here, you know anyplace i can shoot it (not indoors). im having trouble finding any places that allow full auto. classic only allows pistol caliber and i just built an m16 a few months ago and cant find anywhere to shoot it.

fitted one more weld joint. getting a little easier. its gonna get harder when i make the jig. i know alot of people just tack them but this will be full auto so i really want to get deep welds so its strong.

thanks guys.... my tommy build is also posted here on gunco.. pretty sure that BOTH the 28a1 & the M1 are posted here.

the slag is always easiest to get off with a file as Sprat said... then a good old fashioned rotozip or dremel for the rest..

now if you have overlapping parts? then you just cut a new line.

these are pretty easy to build you just want to measure it twice & cut it once. :-)
