Thanks, it's a nice gun to own.

I built two more since that one but I'm not building any more, they take too long.

    That's damn nice!
Are you going to show any of the build?
I'm curious about the bolt mod and receiver design you talked about.
    I kinda want one.

I don't have any build pictures but...

The bolt has been drilled to take a Sten cocking handle. The bolt needs heat treatment to make it soft enough to work on, and then more heat treatment to make it hard again.

The Sten MkIII ( any Sten model apart from a MkV would work ) tigger housing has been cut and welded to reduce the diameter of the part that fits over the tube so that it fits the Suomi diameter tube.

The receiver is 1" longer than a standard Suomi M31 tube, and has a cocking slot, and is cut underneath so it will accept a Sten sear.

It uses a cut down Sten return spring.

The rear sight is moved back about 1", it still has the guide for the Suomi bolt that sticks down into the receiver.

It uses a modified Sten selector switch safety, which consists of a cam which lowers the trip lever to disconnect the trigger from the mechanism.

That's about it really. I thought long and hard about what I needed to do to make it work properly, and expected to have teething problems to sort out being as it was a bit radical but, it worked perfectly without any alteration.

Wow..very nicely done, and clean lines. I like it. I suppose you could call it a "Suoten" or, even better a "SteFin".
Any pics or measurements of the bolt would be appreciated!
    Thanks for sharing this.

I built it as the powers that be prohibited a Suomi that I built because they did not like the Suomi trigger mechanism. I had already had a Sten approved as restricted and non restricted, that was the reason I decided to build another Suomi that used a Sten trigger mechanism. I call them FaRT guns, after the non restricted Firearm Reference Table number that I needed to make them legal.

    Here's your bolt pictures.

WOW your allowed to have open bolt firearms too!?!? Our laws suck, we have to make them closed bolt and some of them take a lot of modifications to get them to work.

Thank you very much for the info and videos

    You are very welcome.

Yes we can have open bolt guns as there is nothing in law that prohibits them. The RCMP asked me to make them fire from a closed bolt but I refused. I ended up taking them to court over it.

Lot's of laws suck up here too, you can have things that we can't. Swings and roundabouts

Is there a written law you have seen that say's you can not ? I have heard there is a BATF ruling, but whether that is law or not I don't know.
