That was all good info there BB. Do you knapp, that would be a great subject to cover if you do. Then you always have a resource for tools, no matter what the circumstances are.
I've tried my hand at it a very little bit, I usually end up with something resembling a point/ scraper, ect,,,but there not to good. Can't get the fine flaking down yet. A couple guys I've been on digs with really have a knack for it and they make some beautiful stuff. I begged them nicely to have them make me 4 identical points to use for hunting, just as an experiment. They were happy to oblige sense they had a lust to know too and neither were hunters. I actually took 2 deer with things they made for me that year. They worked every bit as good as any broad head I've ever bought. The style was a Lavana, if anyone knows what that is! It's a triangular point with a concave base and very thin. On both deer they poked through rib bones on both sides on a clean pass through shot. Recovered both arrows and one point was broken, 1 wasn't and just needed new fletchings to be reused and the other just a fresh point. Shit it did better than one of my fancy aluminum arrows both the arrow and broad head were bent from doing the same thing the year before.
Ya don't need to get fancy,,,you can do allot with just a rock!!!
But always remember,,, when rocks are outlawed ,,,only outlaws will have rocks!!
Keep that a secret though!!! or they'll be banned next,,,,,,,
