Shit up that way I'd think just weather alone would make most people want to be prepared for most anything, some places up there a so far out of anything resembling a town,,you could be snowed in for days or weeks if really remote.
Myself and 4 friends went hunting there with a guide for a week trip many years ago. Last day of the trip it snowed so hard you couldn't even keep your eyes opened it snowed so hard. We got snowed in for 5-6 days after that before the weather broke enough so we could all get out, it ripped for 4 days. Every body did just fine, we went out got a small doe and a few birds and we ate like kings and had a ball with a extended hunting trip to boot,,don't get much better than that IMO. I want in no rush to leave anyhow!! Beautiful area. Plus I got the bear I didn't catch up to during the "official" trip. The guide had plenty of everything else we needed as far as veggies, coffee and everyday staples stuff, so we were golden. I do wish I'd brought another jug of Jack and some spare smokes though,,,,,,
