Default How hard is it to machine a rt side plate 1919?

Like the title says, I think I'm going to get a 1919a4 kit. How hard is the side plate to machine and where are accurate semi plans?

1919a4.com has (had?) the blueprints. Get yourself a chunk of GOOD STEEL if you do it. Don't use mild welding steel.

I don't think it will be difficult, but that darned sure looks like a huge amount of steel you must remove for the "semi hump". Tedious work... get a radio and a few sodas!

Don't they have blank side plates that have the "semi hump" in them?

I think I saw a post on 1919A4.com were a guy did one with a grinder, files and a drill press. Took him a while to do it and he didn't post pics of it, so it might have looked rough.

Try getting a 80% side plate, it has all the milling done. All it needs is the rivet holes. Remember to get the chafers on the right sides, if you need to weld one up & redo it on the other side it is a real pain!! Experience is the best teacher.

at the moment I think there are no 80% plates only finished ones, due to the batf investigation going on at Halo mfg.
