Default 7.62x25 just HAPPENS to fit nicely in RPD links

    Any USEFUL feedback on this?

They click right in there, and don't come loose when shook, either, yet can be pushed out with your pinky. Notice they work best, when inserted BACKWARDS.

I'm not the first to be thinking along these lines

    HRM...

I'm not convinced the 7.62x25 has enough powder behind it to *RELIABLY* and *CONSISTENTLY* feed the belt-fed mechanism, and that would beg the question of what would you do if you found you couldn't make it work? Rebarrel the build? That would be an expensive experiment... I'm sure you could get it to work if you did enough tweaking, but even if it does, I can't say that that particular caliber would be something I'd choose first.

Personally I'd think you could get better bang for the buck with another caliber.

I was thinking of that the other day, did't have any belts to try it though.
Then I thought about it the way hcpookie did.

If I were retired, I'd give it a whirl just to see. Straight blowback. Unless you had an RPD belt and tried it, you wouldn't believe how nicely they fit. Click in and click out, effortlessly, yet stay secure. It is CHEAP ammo

Somewhere in my vast collection of gun-related photos, I have a picture of a German submachinegun that used belt-fed 9mm ammo. The links were much like the MG42 belts, but were shorter. I'll try to find the pic.

I've saved pics from so many websites... Probably around 10,000+ pics to sort through, so I'm still looking. At least I have them grouped by category.
