Default MG42 ratchet plate -install cocking rod

Hello How does the MG42 cocking/operating rod connect to the guide along the ratchet plate on the inside? I would think it has a slot milled on the underside of ratchet plate. Would it have a bent edge along the ratchet plate? Has anyone milled it or form bend the edge? Thanks IRONMULE

There is a groove running the length of the receiver behind the ratchet plate that you can see from the bottom of the receiver. This groove is what keeps the charging handle in sync.

On a semi build, the end of the rod will need to be modified as the original rod pulls back against the sear stop of the bolt carrier. Since the sear stop is removed during the semi build process, the end of the rod will need to be modified back, and a mating lug will need to be welded onto the side of the carrier somehow.

    Hello hcpookie
I was thinking about that ratchet plate having a groove cut in the backside. I haven't seen one. You've answered my quest.I understand the cocking rod for the semi MG42, thank you very much! IRONMULE
