    Default Need FAL help

I need a source for a barrel spacer. I think that is what it is called. I have installed my barrel all the way in and I still have a gap between the receiver end and the end of the barrel threads. I can't do another turn with the barrel.

Anyone else had this issue...how to fix? I've heard people are using spacers to fill in the gap.

    How much are we talking?
I've seen barrel shims for the FALs, but they are in the .001 to .006 range.
When you say spacer, it sounds like you are talking about more than that.
This is a metric Imbel, correct? The inch versions use an actual spacer. (breeching washer)

I'll take a pic over the weekend and show you. The barrel is imbel going on a DCI receiver.

When you get the barrel turned all the way in, what position does it stop at? Are you sure its a metric Imbel barrel, and if so has anyone previously done any barrel shoulder work on it?. If you are using a metric barrel you shouldn't have to use a barrel washer even if on a inch receiver. That being said, it would seem a lot of the receivers out there aren't up to mil spec and might require a very thin washer to have it time at the 11:00 position.

I recently did a Imbel on Imbel build that hand timed to 12 oclock. I had to use a .001 shim to bring it back out to 11:00

Never had to use a washer on any thing but an inch receiver. You can make one out of a large washer. Just grind it down to fit. Best buy a few extra washers as it is tricky. Grind the washer down until it fits then start working on the thickness

Bob, is the breech of the barrel hitting the receiver ? If so some of the barrel might need removing to get it seated. Did it headspace correctly ?

No the breech is not hitting the receiver so I have plenty of room there. I ordered so shim washers like max said and that should solve the problem...

Bogus receiver specs? Sounds like incorrect "thread timing" issues when machined as seen on other types of "out-of-spec milled receiver clones".

Spacer? You working on a FAL or a HOT WATER TANK?
