I know the expense is out of hand on these just to build one.
I picked up the $ 60 apex barrel and it's excellent condition.
    Very bright bore.

Edited due to concern over semi-auto configuration vs. fa

    Hello Rahat,
This is an exciting and creative build !!! The welds are likely stronger than a cast receiver. A re heat treat may be needed to preclude receiver stretch. I suppose that you could test the resulting hardness all over the finished and cleaned up receiver to check for radical change(s).

Was the dewatted barrel salvageable for other projects ??

I have not seen anything that creative since the Bren Gun reweld, great job!!

The barrel was cut across the chamber threads, and also chopped
    midway. Completely useless.

I will have to resolve the legality of
doing this 'build' before proceeding. This is my first FAL build and
I think there are some areas I failed to investigate as far as differences
between a full auto receiver and a semi-auto version. I don't want to
get myself or anyone else in trouble.

Welds hold without a hitch. 80 rds so far.
I will deal with stretch when our sun goes nova.
    Until then. This thing rocks!

    Nice reweld!

Did you use the front stub from your kit or did you weld one from Apex back together?
