Anyone know of any good souces for 80% lowers? Kevin seems to be out for about another month or so. Does anyone have any experience with AR-15plus forged ones?
i can't tell much from the pic. anyone bought on of these? i wonder if the magwell needs to be milled out. I just built my 5th ak, so I'm ready to move on to ar15's now i think
I dont get it, why pay 120 for 80% lowers when you can buy MEGA lowers fully done for a couple dollars more. Id much rather do that than pay someone to do some finish work.
You can find FFL guys who will do the paper work on 10 of them to the same person for one fee.
Its a good thing I live in New Mexico, I go to buy gun, I fill out form, they call NCIC or whoever and they say "long gun" or "short gun" and with my unique name in 30 seconds I walk to register and pick up gun.
We are not required to register numbers nor anything other than swearing we are legaly able to own firearms.
Anyone that has to jump through the hoops of getting a "license" and filling out paperwork to buy a gun while waiting 6 weeks for background checks and then having to register their firearm......... I feel for you.
Agreed - having to license a purchase with long wait is not right. Aristotle was right long ago - that without the right of the citizens to bear arms, they were not citizens but subjects.
As to the purchase, even with the NCIC, your firearm purchase has left a permanent paper trail - the 4473. It's as good as registered. And that is precisely why some bend their own blanks, mill 80% ARs, etc.
And we have a winner! The key difference between socialists and capitalists - a capitalist believes, "it's your money - do with it as you wish"! A socialist believes, "we know better than you how it should be spent, so we have to take it!"
I can't find any, I have a suspicion that it has something to do with the BATF. None of the places which had them before seem to have them in stock, may just be the Obama scare or maybe some rule has changed.
KT Ordnance doesn't have them listed.
AR15Plus.com is OOS, their prices seem to be a bit out of control.
DSArms shows them on their site, but if you try to order, it will be canceled due to back order.
The tannery place has their pages with receivers just removed.
Looks like FTF Industries has them listed, though they are a bit pricey, they send you the blank and a copy of the blueprints. I just emailed them to see if they actually have them in stock and if they would sell the blanks w/o the blueprints. If so, I'll post back with what the deal is. FTF INDUSTRIES HARD
DSArms responded stating that they are 2-3 weeks behind answering emails, due to the fear of the Obamapocalypse; I'll call them tomorrow. Haven't heard anything back from FTF Industries.
Talked to DSArms, they are back ordered on their 80% receivers. They don't know when new ones will be in stock. They will fill back orders as they get the parts in... I put in an order for 8 three weeks ago, so get in line.
Considering that everyone is sold out, that kind of goes without saying. Also remember that the tools to finish the receiver builds will cost you around $200. Further, you aren't really allowed to build receivers as a business, you're going to need an FFL01 if you want to get into that. These receiver blanks should be used for personal hobby purposes only. As I said, I ordered 8, I'll probably wind up selling the blanks to friends or in the classified section. I'd never ever sell a receiver I made, due to liability and possible legal ramifications. People say you can sell them, I just wouldn't.
I'm still on the waiting list for DSArms, for 8 receivers. They stated they will be filling all back orders, though they don't have any idea when the orders will come in. I also have a sneaking suspicion that these may be 10% receivers, I sent them an inquiry to confirm or deny that. My order status says:
There's a guy named Kevin, mentioned on CNCguns.com, he says he'll be out of stock until April. You can follow his thread at AR15.com, he also said he does not keep an email list, so you'll just need to keep an eye on his thread.
$120 plus shipping. US only. No paypal. More pics on request. email or IM
Joiner Optics seems to have them in stock for $170, though I haven't called them, you'll have to do the leg work here. The buffer tube has been drilled & tapped on these units, though you'll have to mill out the mag tube yourself. AR-15 80% Lower Receivers
KAD Engineering
According to another thread on the CNCGuns forum, KAD sells them.
Thank you for your interest in my 80% forgings. I sell them for $120 plus shipping $7.00 for 1 and $10 for increments of 12 or less.
joezx10r, you're a crazy dude! Good luck on your build, I'd love to see your rifle when you're done!
FYI to everyone else, I just got my order confirmation from DSArms, my receiver blanks should be shipping today.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
