    Only problem I see is that the gas block is real tight to the receiver. Gas port is barely in front of the chamber. I don't know if I'll be able to fit an op rod in there that is long enough to actually work the action.

    Thinking out loud - you could make it easier to build by making the block in one piece, then thread or pin the tube into the block. Would be easier to machine that way.
