there were guys on ar-15 build forum who took flat sheets and nut and bolt and or welded the plates one guy brazed them like the Late war M-1 carbine lowers
He called me out here on Gunco. He sent me a piece of sheet metal that he had cut out of the side of an old washing machine. Even went so far as to post a pic of the machine here with the hunk cut out. I shut him up by building a functioning AK out of it. :ak47:
but in reality: i mean nothing in the scope of the hobby & would never delude myself with that as others do.
too many people in this hobby "think" they are important vs what we do. its 90% of what goes wrong with bullshit & so on.. im sooooo over all that shit.
seriously: Rick is NOT a vendor on WG & hasnt been for years.
i actually have nothing to do with vendors at WG. removed myself from that headache long ago. :fruit:
i buy from people who have good stuff & dont from those who dont.
Rick is a good dude & hope for nothing but the best for him.
And i've gotten so bad I just received a complete upper from Gary Willard at TWC in 300BO. My kid owes me so much labor to his crippled up dad. Gotta get this tractor going again
Its been done, i think the thread is on wg but then again it might have been here where I seen it. It was Swiss Cheesed to the max but i don't think it got down to the aluminum lower weight. It looked pretty cool but as for being functional.....i.wouldn't bet my life on it. This particular ar had the lower almost completely open with to much potential for something to get into the FCG causing a malfunction. He also skeletonized the upper if i remember correctly.
I remember seeing the skeletons but not where also. I keep thinking arfcom. Long time ago stuff tho.
