    The rim diameter is different, .422 Vs .394 [6.8SPC : 5.45]

It might work, but it might just constantly fail to extract...

I say neither... get a 7.62x25 upper from the GB over on Weaponsguild there is one or two left an the mags are cheap 9.99 and the ammo is cheaper still at 8-12 cents a round.

I have four 9mm AR15 carbines. The round has a lot more velocity from a 20" barrel and is not very loud compared for the full sized rounds. Kind of like a super accurate UZI. Great for medium range combat and or varmint duty at a ranch.

The system is simple and fool proof. I used the RRA 9mm uppers on DPMS and STAG lowers. These use slightly modified UZI mags.

7.62X39 is used in an AK47. My favorite is my RPK.

    Howdy,

Take a look at Model1Sales...They now have 5.45 barrels and uppers and Kits....

The prices were reasonable considering the market.

I have built Model1 kits in the past and they are good, quality wise. You generally have to do some fitting in any case.

    Just my $0.02

yea-- i like model 1 too. i ordered my 7.62x39 bolts from them when everybody else was talking 6months to two years BO. i got my 7.62s in one month during the peak of the panic buying. not bad service at all.

if i have to order a 5.45 bolt--i will most likely order it from model 1 sales.
